SWAES HVAC Water Quality Monitoring

Water_Quality_Monitoring_Image.png

Why Monitor HVAC Water Quality

SWAES Water Quality Monitoring solutions lead the way in continuous, smart water quality monitoring. The ultra-low power, intelligent digital sensor technology offers sustainable solutions, delivering proactive analysis and safeguarding water quality.

Measuring water quality, including biocides, is required to reduce the risk of failure on-site, which can lead to enormous costs for
repair, replacement and downtime if the part of the system suffers from corrosion.

  • Water quality within your HVAC system plays a crucial role in its efficiency. Unchecked water quality can lead to scaling, corrosion, and decreased heat transfer, resulting in energy losses exceeding 30% of the system's annual running costs.

  • Dissolved Oxygen – Monitoring oxygen levels is vital to reduce the risk of corrosion.

  • pH – Monitoring pH gives information on the chemistry within the pipework, such as bug secretion, aluminium levels, and other inhibitor/biocide and scavenger chemicals.
Changes in pH can show issues with additives. *Note no inhibitors based on zero conductivity when VDI 2035 implemented – Real-time pH level monitoring critical

  • Conductivity – A drop in conductivity can demonstrate a leak. It can also highlight issues with chemicals being dosed or not.

  • Pressure – If the pressure is anything but positive, it can demonstrate a leak in the system.

  • Turbidity – Levels of biofilm and solids can be measured. This can show corrosion and/or biofilm that can contain bacteria.

  • Biocides – CLO2, CL2, O3, Br, H2O2 or PAA
measuring can assist with monitoring for
    reducing bacteria, including Legionella
